Parents participated alongside their students in a live lesson, getting a front-row seat to the tools used daily in our classrooms. To support continued learning, the district provided handouts featuring FVSD addition and subtraction tools tailored for both Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten. These resources highlight various ways students can solve problems, including:
-
Ten Frames and Tally Marks for visual grouping.
-
Number Lines for understanding sequence and distance.
-
Finger Counting and Drawings to make abstract concepts concrete.
The highlight for many students was handing out special math goody bags, equipped with hands-on tools to help families reinforce these strategies through play at home. We are so grateful to the Cox staff for organizing such an impactful event and to our families for their partnership in supporting our TK & Kinder mathematicians!
