The energy across our district was absolutely undeniable the last week of school, as we officially celebrated the promotion of our 8th-grade classes. Milestone ceremonies marked the transition for students across all three of our middle schools: the soaring Talbert T-Birds, the resilient Fulton Falcons, and the majestic Masuda Monarchs.

Each ceremony captured the distinct spirit of its campus. At Talbert, the T-Bird pride was on full display as students were commended for their dedication and leadership. Over at Fulton, the Falcons took center stage, celebrating years of academic curiosity and close-knit friendships. Meanwhile, the Masuda Monarchs closed their middle school chapter with true royal excellence, reflecting on how much they’ve grown as community thinkers and peer mentors.

There was no shortage of smiles, high-fives, and even a few tears as graduating high school seniors from the Class of 2026 returned to where their academic journeys began. All seven of our district’s elementary schools opened their doors to welcome back their former students for a special "full circle" reunion.

Dressed proudly in their high school graduation caps and gowns, the seniors toured their old campuses, reconnected with the teachers and staff who supported them in their early years, and snapped memories together. Many seniors couldn't resist hitting the blacktop one last time, squeezing onto the playground equipment for nostalgic photos that perfectly contrasted how much they've grown since their elementary days.

June 11th's Board of Trustees meeting was a celebration of the incredible people who make our district shine! The evening was dedicated to honoring outstanding individuals and vital community partners whose dedication, leadership, and volunteerism enrich the lives of our students every day.

The Board was absolutely thrilled to officially honor our District Teacher of the Year, Amanda Kitahara from Newland Elementary, alongside our Classified School Employee of the Year, Cheryl Hall, who serves as School Office Manager at Tamura Elementary. Both Amanda and Cheryl embody the very best of educational excellence, going above and beyond to create nurturing, efficient, and inspiring environments on their respective campuses.

Celebrating 150 Years

In the 1960s and 1970s, California cities grew at a rapid pace, and so did the Fountain Valley School District. Did you know that at its peak, FVSD served nearly 12,000 students and had nineteen K-8 schools?

In the decades that followed, changing demographics and declining birth rates led to lower student enrollment. Today, many California school districts continue facing similar challenges.

The Shoreline auditorium was filled with music on Friday evening as choir students from Talbert, Fulton, and Masuda middle schools came together for their annual spring concert. Families and friends enjoyed an evening of performances that showcased the talent, dedication, and collaboration of student musicians from across the district.

t was a bright Southern California day as the Fulton Falcons hosted a spectacular track-and-field tournament for our three district middle schools. Athletes from the Talbert T-Birds and the Masuda Monarchs arrived ready to compete in a variety of events, from fast-paced sprints to long-distance runs. It was a joy to see the field filled with students pushing themselves to reach new personal records while representing their schools with pride.

While the competition was focused on the track, the spectator energy was just as exciting. The Masuda Monarchs, represented by their mighty lion mascot, brought plenty of roar to the sidelines alongside the soaring spirits of the Falcons and T-Birds. Beyond the races, the event was a great way for students from across the district to meet one another and build new friendships through the power of sports.

In the Fountain Valley School District, our community’s voice is the foundation of our student success strategy. As we look ahead to the 2026-27 school year, we are excited to share an update on our Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP).

To give our families, staff, and community members a transparent look at this year's planning cycle, our Educational Services Department has put together an informational video summarizing the valuable feedback we received this year.

The Fountain Valley School District invites our community to review the proposed 2026-2027 District Budget and Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP).

Before these plans are formally adopted, they are made available for public inspection so that our families and residents can stay informed about district priorities and fiscal planning.

The quiet concentration in the Fulton Middle School MPR this past Saturday spoke volumes about the talent in our district. Students from all three FVSD middle schools gathered for the 5th Annual Middle School Chess Tournament, a highlight of the year for our campus chess clubs.

The sun was shining at Strawberry Farms Golf Course for the 11th Annual Dr. Marc Ecker Golf Tournament. This yearly event, hosted by the Fountain Valley Schools Foundation, brings the community together to raise vital funds for our schools. The energy was high from the very first tee-off, proving once again that our supporters know how to have a great time for a good cause.
