Principal's Message

Welcome Cox Families to the 2020-21 School Year!

As your new principal, I look forward to meeting all of our students and families - both virtually, and in-person, when it is safe to return to school.  You have our commitment to do everything we can to keep our children safe in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.  The entire Cox staff has been working hard to prepare for online learning, which will begin on Wednesday, September 9, 2020.  The District is closely monitoring the COVID-19 metrics and will pivot to the Hybrid in-person model when it is deemed safe by county health officials.  Please expect to receive additional communication about the start of school in the days ahead, through ParentSquare.

I am honored to rejoin the Fountain Valley School District as the new principal at Cox Elementary.  I  feel so fortunate to have this opportunity to work with you, and I can't wait to see students walking through our doors in several weeks!  Cox will be prepared, with open arms (contactless, of course), when we bring students back.  And we will take it one day at a time.  Above all, I will keep in constant communication with you to ensure that we are collectively doing everything we can to stay safe and connected.

To share with you a little about me, my husband and I reside in Costa Mesa with our two children.  We have a son who is starting 7th grade and a daughter who is beginning 5th grade.  As a family, we enjoy watching lots of movies (especial during COVID), planing and watching all kinds of sports, and taking family vacations.  I started my teaching career in Garden Grove Unified teaching 3rd, 4th, and 6th grades.  At that time, I wanted to teach in middle school, and I was then hired to teach 6th and 7th grade at Masuda Middle School.  After teaching at Masuda for a few years, I was promoted to Assistant Principal and then to Principal of Masuda.  I left Masuda in 2009 to become the principal at Talbert Middle School.  I have spent the past six years of my career at the district office level as both the Director of Support Services for FVSD, and, most recently, as the Director of Human Resources with Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District.   And, now I am fortunate to return back to the school site to pursue my true passion as a principal in the district I love.

I can not express how excited I am to be back, and I look forward to meeting you all in the weeks to come!

Best regards,

Cara Robinson
